Emerald Drive, Sandbach
A property on the outskirts of Sandbach with a modest sized plot which backs onto a field. The garden needed a full redesign with the clients’ primary focus being on entertainment.
A large raised patio made of sawn sandstone was situated at the back of the garden with a pizza oven for cooking and hardwood Iroko benches for seating. A rendered wall adds a sense of enclosure and an oversized curved log store spans the back both providing storage and creating a focal point. The garden was created with a series of terraces to solve the problem of elevated levels from the fields and curves were used to mirror an existing wavy low brick wall. A mix of painted render and slate cladding teamed with sawn stone add a contemporary air to the space. Planting is Mediterranean influenced with a pretty mix of silver leaved Lavenders and Artemisias, violet Salvias, Euphorbias, pale yellow Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam’ and block plantings of grasses. Many evergreen shrubs and perennials have been included to keep maintenance sensible and the clients favourite herbs such as Rosemary, Thyme and Basil are grown around the pizza oven for ease of use. The garden also boasts a comprehensive lighting design with recessed uplighters for the cladding, downlights for the log store and spikes throughout the borders.
