Begger Man’s Lane, Knutsford

A lovely modern little project in Knutsford, Cheshire. The family wanted a clean, calm and contemporary space in which to relax and enjoy the sun. A seating area was created with sawn sandstone and a sunken area constructed from railway sleepers provides vertical interest and plays host to a cube shaped firepit. The raised back and planting along the patio help to split the garden into different areas without blocking the view. The old paving was recycled and used within a gabion wall which acts as a great textural backdrop to the tall grasses and perennials that are planted infront. A gabion bench was also made from the old pavers and a new wooden top added for comfort. Plants inspired by the Mediterranean climate were used in an all white colour scheme and pale grey slatted panels create backdrops and supports for climbers.
