A beautiful stone cottage in rural Lancashire with fantastic views and a huge sloping garden needing a full redesign. The space will have 2 outdoor seating areas, one for dining (complete with built in BBQ and contemporary parasol) and one for relaxing and lounging, both using York Paving and locally quarried stone to match the property. 2 bespoke oak and metal pergolas will bridge the gap between the patios and garden. Stone is used to build raised beds to retain the soil from the elevated lawn and to add vertical interest. Pots and climbers will be dotted along the stone wall and trellis along the top will provide additional privacy from the neighbours. Large sweeping borders filled with ornamental grasses and perennials in soft shades of purple, blue, white and lemon yellow will run around the edges of the garden and 3 x raised lavender borders will sit in the lawn, each with a specimen tree. A summerhouse will be constructed in the far end of the garden and an orchard will be planted around it. Lighting is crucial within the garden, with recessed wall lights, spots, lanterns and uplighters all playing a role to gently light key features, plants and stonework. The front of the property will also see a new driveway and the front borders replanted.
A large project to be executed in several stages.
