BBC Gardener’s World Live 2016 – ‘Capability Brown’s Enchanted Tea Party’ with Wyevale Garden Centres
Capability Brown’s Enchanted Tea Party… a celebration of the work and life of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and Roses!
Alex is back in 2016 with her 5th show garden, this time at BBC Gardener’s World Live and working with Wyevale Garden Centres. The garden is inspired by the work of renowned British Landscape architect, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and the curious English tradition for high tea.
Rolling lawns and paths lead up a gentle slope to a beautiful but ruined Georgian summerhouse. The grounds feature sweeping grassy Wildflower meadows with white and pale coloured flowers which flow around the garden and large, leafy multi stemmed trees that offer vertical impact. The crumbling summerhouse has been reclaimed by nature and is covered in abundant climbing roses and has genuine Georgian features. The visitor will enter the summerhouse to walk into a romantic, enchanted and fragrant Rose lover’s dream. Shrub Roses in pinks and reds burst up through the floor and antique tables and chairs are covered in stunning floral displays. All of which will showcase the Rose varieties due to be launched by Wyevale Garden Centres. Rather than fabric, the chairs are covered in Moss and the table is draped in Ivy. Bone china tea pots, tea cups and cake stands are overflowing with quirky flower displays and a reclaimed Georgian fireplace has flowers cascading from within. A crystal chandelier is suspended from one of the remaining roofing beams and climbing plants tumble down…
