Modern Country Garden, Lymm

A modern country garden for a beautiful period property in Lymm, Cheshire.                                                                                                                                My clients had already created the bones of the garden, and I was asked to further develop and enhance with hard landscaping, structures and planting. Two pergolas add vertical interest and support for climbing roses and a timber clad summerhouse acts as a gym. Tumbled limestone paving is used through the garden to complement the stone inside the house and contemporary cottage garden plants such as Agapanthus, white Hydrangeas, Salvias and Verbenas are teamed with topiary and clipped forms to give a modern twist to the classic style. Zinc box lanterns are featured on key walls and statement planters with bespoke wire frames, topiary and a character Olive tree soften the house and structures. A huge dome clipped tree adds impact to the front, alongside masses of white hydrangeas and enhanced planting.                                                                                                                                    Photography by Tom Biddle
